Welcome to Voices for Animals!

The 11th Charlottesville Vegetarian Festival was a huge success—with more than 6,000 visitors.

About Voices for Animals

Voices for Animals is a grassroots, all-volunteer, animal rights organization founded in 1984 and based in Charlottesville, Virginia. Our mission is to reduce animal suffering of all kinds through public education, political advocacy, and direct action. We welcome your interest and support!

Voices for Animals coordinates a wide range of activities throughout the year. Among our ongoing activities are the Charlottesville Vegetarian Festival, which celebrated its 11th year last September, and the Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project using the trap/neuter/return (TNR) method of feral cat population control. We also organize tablings, letter-writing campaigns, speaking engagements, and demonstrations, doing all we can to promote a more compassionate society.

Charlottesville Vegetarian Festival

Each year, the Charlottesville Vegetarian Festival educates thousands of people on the benefits of humane eating—for our health, our planet, and the animals. The 2007 festival was a huge success, with more than 6,000 people attending.

If you’d like to become more involved in this dynamic community event, please e-mail volunteer@cvillevegfest.org. For more information on the festival, visit www.cvillevegfest.org.

Since 2005, we've coordinated 14 free spay/neuter clinics, in which hundreds of cats have been sterilized, vaccinated, dewormed, and given other medical care at no charge to their caretakers.

Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project

Since 1997, Voices for Animals has been operating the area’s only spay/neuter/vaccination program for feral cats. Our program allows these cats to live healthier, safer lives and helps reduce feline overpopulation in our community. For more information about the Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project and a list of upcoming spay/neuter clinics and trap loan/return and training dates click here.

Our Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project promotes the trap-neuter-return model—a nonlethal and humane solution for feline overpopulation.
